Hi guys! I want to keep creating scenarios for Desktopx but since I upgrade to WIndows 10 I leave the project. Some week ago many people write me asking for Scenarios for Windows 10. My question is... there is any software alternative to reach the same or similar funtions like to create objects (clickable) on the desktop?  By the moment the best option is WINSTEP XTREME 16.12.

Is this the best or there is any posibility that Stardock release a DesktopX 10 anytime?

Thanks.

I hope so, but sincerely doubt it.  I don't think Stardock will release anything that requires UAC to be disabled.

Don't think they're gonna go there, based on previous threads about this subject.

As I have noted over and over, DesktopX works on Windows 10. I build themes on Windows 10. Make Gadgets as well. I have recently uploaded a few DesktopX themes made and running fine on Windows 10.

It seems that Stardock is evolving into a more Game Development Company. I don't have much confidence that they will continue with the OS Customization business model.

Au contraire ... Stardock has ALWAYS been into both Gaming and OS Customizing, since pre-Windows even.

Now [used loosely] that Windows 10 is the MS 'end game' there's every chance that GUI customizing will see some stability and not actually go through OS versions every other 'week' [seems like]... from 7...8...8.1....10....

Well then , that is some very encouraging news. I was feeling a bit depressed that they may abandon some aspects of  their customization platforms. I'm glad that some things stay the same.

XWidget is now all I use for Desktop Widgets. It has replaced DX, Rainmeter and Rainlendar here. I find it very useful and very customizable. I don't know how compatible it is with Win10. I'm using Win7 until it isn't supported any longer.

XWidget works just fine on any build of Windows 10. My tool of choice also for widgets. Has a good and easy editor for own widgets also.

The problem is that Windows 10 (and 8) have made it  very hard for us to do DesktopX stuff because of the massive security.

Nowadays, you can't even run a batch file without having to go through dialogs and DesktopX was doing more powerful things than a batch file.

What, specifically, from DesktopX was it you liked so that we can see what is possible in the future.

Thanks for giving us DX fans at least a little hope.

Basically a way to display system info that can be skinned ala DX. I was just getting into it when DX went poof.

Not to infer that I have any idea what Brad is thinking, but I'd bet he means a DX alternative?  Rather than DX revisited.

Just a guess/hunch...

From my part ... is the ability to display png files in any size on the desktop that works as a shortcut. I can create many 3D desktop interfaces that users loves.

DesktopX works fine, for me, on Windows 10, always has.
